What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and en sheathes the other soft tissues). Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, prior to and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury.

I’m Ellie, I live locally in Wilberfoss with my husband, our 2 teenage children. I’m a keen runner and am actively involved with the local running community in a number of ways.
Having had my fair share of injuries I was always really interested in the positive effects sports massage can have in preventing injuries and helping with recovery. So I qualified as Sports Massage Therapist. I’m fully insured.
I treat clients from various sporting and non-sporting backgrounds. Sports massage can really benefit everyone by:
Improving your flexibility and mobility
Helping to improve your posture
It improve your circulation
Helps reduced pain and muscle tension
Reduces muscle soreness - (DOMS)
Reduced injury recovery time
Improves your sporting performance
Aid relaxation and reduce stress
Some clients come for regular maintenance massages to help maintain their muscles and to stop ‘niggles’ developing into injuries. Whilst others come once ‘niggles’ start to affect their everyday life. Whatever you choose the improvements in health or well being are always worth a visit.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
